Flash flood creates havoc in Poonch

3 trapped in flash flood, road to Balley Bridge washed away

POONCH, Sep 22: District administration put all the three tehsil on high alert after flash flood created havoc in Poonch, forcing hundreds of peoples to migrate from low line area to safer place.
While 03 persons were trapped in flood in Poonch and all of them were rescued by civilians of the area.
Official sources said that was no loss of life has been reported in the Poonch district when the reports last came in while the approach road of Balley bridge on Plusta river was washed away and water level of Suran river rise creating problems for inhabitants living nearby.
District administration stopped movement of vehicles while people in the flood prone areas have been moved to safer places due to panic. There is massive loss to approach road of Balley bridge constructed by district administration to facilitate people to cross Plusta river, while administration diverted traffic by Kalai bridge where people protested against district administration for not taking timely action to prevent loss from flood. To review the situation, district administration assured all possible help to people of the district.
A local Mohammad Khalil of Dara Dullian said, “I came here at Poonch this morning and all was right but in the evening the approach road of the Balley Bridge was washed away. We tried to cross the bridge but a police restricted us and asked us to return back. Government must start restoration work of bridge as early as possible so that we did not face more problems in future.”
Another local Khalil Ahmed said, “Officials are claiming tall that they helped us but the truth is that they did not help us. We are trying to rescue persons trapped in flood and we rescued them but officials did not bother to rescue any person trapped in flood.”
