Separatists call for strike against Handwara killings

SRINAGAR, Apr 12: Various separatist leaders have called for a general strike tomorrow against the killings in Handwara.
Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani has called for Kashmir bandh tomorrow over the killing of two youths during the demonstration against the "molestation bid by army personnel" in Handwara Kupwara.
In a statement, Geelani termed the killing as "state terrorism at its peak.”
JKLF chairman Mohammad Yasin Malik has asked the people to observe a civil curfew like general strike tomorrow. “Attacking chastity of our sacred girls and then showering bullets on innocent protesters and killing two of them in cold blood has once again exposed the ugly brutal face of Indian government,” Yasin said in a statement.

In separate statements Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Chairman Hurriyat (M) and Shabir Ahmad Shah, president Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) have also condemned the Handwara killings and appealed for a strike tomorrow.
