ANANTNAG, Dec 10: With valley witnessing a worst power scenario, the officials of the district administration particularly Power development department (PDD) ensure the uninterrupted power supply to the areas the chief minister reaches out to while holding public darbars only to appease her and give her good impression about the otherwise messy power scenario.
Chief minister started her public outreach program earlier last month and is presently in Chenab valley where she will be holding public darbars at various places. In Kashmir valley, the chief minister visited various places including some volatile south Kashmir districts and held interactions with the public delegations in the last over a month. Chief minister stayed for at least a night at the district headquarters she chaired sessions of public interaction.
The power scenario in the valley started deteriorating two months ago, both townships and rural areas witnessing unscheduled long power cuts. However on the days chief minister held public darbars the district headquarters not only got facelift but also witnessed 24 hour power supply.
Last week when chief minister visited Kulgam for interaction with public, the town and its peripheries did not face a single power cut until she left the area.
"Witnessed electricity for the whole night. Wish CM visits Kulgam every day," a resident wrote on facebook.
Similarly when chief minister visited Dak Bungalow Anantnag the area around it witnessed uninterrupted power supply.
"Electric bulbs in our area kept shining for both day and night when CM was here. Otherwise we usually witness electricity for few hours only," said a resident of Khanabal.
A couple of days ago when CM held a public darbar at northern district Bandipora, the town, reports suggested had not only got a facelift but witnessed not a single cut in power from her arrival in the area till the time she left the other day. Reports suggested that the authorities besides ensuring the uninterrupted power supply to the town also filled all the potholes on Srinagar-Bandipora road which were awaiting repair for years.
While the people question as to where from PDD gets the electricity on the days of CM holds public darbar, some officials say that the top officials are only appeasing and deceiving the chief minister.
"One wonders where from the PDD gets electricity for the areas where CM reaches and stays to meet the party workers and on rest of the days public is blamed for shortage of power," wrote a face book user Musaib.
However an official of the PDD said that the top officials of the department in connivance with officials of district administration in order to appease chief minister are deceiving her.
"Whenever the Chief Minister reaches any area, authorities ensure there is not a single power cut till she returns. They give her the impression that the people are getting good power supply in the winter as well and keep her in dark about how the people are actually suffering due to unscheduled power cuts," the official said.
