2 groups of cross LoC traders clash in Poonch, 1 injured

POONCH, May 10: One trader was injured when two groups of cross LoC traders clashed in the premises of Trade Facilitation Centre at Chakkan Da Bagh in Poonch here this afternoon.
Eye witnesses said this afternoon a trader was demanding dispatch of his truck to Pakistan Administered Kashmir (PAK) strictly going by roster as his name figured on the top while traders from other group wanted to dispatch their trucks first on the pretext that their trucks were loaded with fresh vegetables and fruits. However, trader in question, joined by few others from his group, refused to buy this argument and this ensued scuffle between the two groups. In the melee, one trader was injured.
Later other traders, officials and police contingent deployed their rushed to pacify them and defused the tension. One group was asked to wait outside Centre.
The trader, injured in the clash, was identified as Shehzad Naik, son of Nazir Naik, resident of Kunaiyan, tehsil Haveli, Poonch. He was referred to Raja Sukhdev Singh District Hospital Poonch.
Krishan Singh vice president Cross LoC Traders Association said, “Few traders with vested interests are trying to gag the genuine traders and sabotage the trade. They are forcing other traders to leave the trade. We are appealing district administration to intervene so that the trade can function smoothly.” He said, “We have given a written complaint to SHO Poonch."
SHO Poonch Sachinder Singh, when contacted, said, “We are scrutinizing the matter. So far we did not find anything on the basis of which an FIR can be registered. Therefore, so far we have not registered any case in this connection.”
