SRINAGAR, Mar 13: A protest was today held by students of Kashmir university against the ban on Jamaat-e-Islami and alleged harassment of their mates by the varsity administration.
Scores of students boycotted their classes and staged a demonstration inside the varsity.
The protesting students were demanding release of all Jamaat members who have been arrested during past few weeks across the state.
They also accused the varsity administration of selective “harassment” of the students without any “sound reasons.”
“The varsity authorities have prepared a list of more than two dozen students who are harassed on one pretext or the other,” said a protesting student.
The students were carrying banners with messages like “ban on Jamaat is a ban on Islam.”
